Battery Relaxed

Battery Relaxed was an entry in the 2012 Battery Park Draw up a Chair competition. 

The process is simple: Three forms — “j”, “rainbow” and “white space” — join in different ways to create an alphabet of chairs.

We make sheet steel molds of the forms, fill the molds with the brightest of hand-recycled HDPE plastic shreds, and rotate the molds in a huge oven to create watertight, hollow, and structural objects. Thoughtful combinations of shredded plastics hula-hoop through the color wheel, hitting the public with every hue on the consumer-coded rainbow. The modular dream with a zest of unpredictability.
